Excommunication

My friends are my church
But you don’t belong here
Our beliefs clash at the door
I put my faith in honesty
I always give my all
How could anyone ask for more

My friends are my church
But you shouldn’t be here
Your deceit wears a vision of grace
It just doesn’t hide
The arrogance and lies
All written there on your face

My friends are my church
But you need to leave here
You’ve taken enough names in vain
Your vile tongue
Has poisoned the well
And everyone feels the pain

My friends are my church
And you’ve done enough here
You practice less than you preach
It’s hard to accept
Your token of good faith
when it’s too deep in my back to reach

My friends are my church
I’m grateful to have them
Sometimes I just need to pray
For wisdom and passion
For patience and love
And for the strength to keep you away
